Kingston’s guide to urDrive Software
August 14, 2010 - 12:00 pm
USB pens are useful things, allowing you to share files, move them about and back-up special photos and documents, but what if there was an easier way to view all your data? Welcome to urDrive!
What is urDrive and how is it different?
Normally you load your photos, documents or MP3 files on a USB drive then when you stick it in a computer you get a jumble of useful data which you can use…although it might take a bit of time to find what you’re looking for. Not bad, but Kingston’s exclusive urDrive has pre-loaded software with an interface that gives you a better way to look at your data.
Ur data ur way – the pros.
urDrive lets users access all their files, folders, photos and music from one central desktop point where it is clearly displayed. Better still, UrDrive owners can customise and organise their content in any way they choose by using simple drop-and-drag functions and a search tool to help users sort and find their data quickly. It goes without saying standard USB functions such as creating and renaming folders are easy-peasy.
The product also trumps conventional USB drives as it offers a built-in portable web browser so users can bookmark their favourite sites or blogs they are following avidly and be able to access them on any PC anywhere in the world, without missing out on any gossip or more importantly, leaving behind tell tale traces or temporary files.
For users who love to share photos- perhaps you’d like to show a friend your holiday snaps and carry a USB rather than a heavy album- a built-in photo viewer with slideshow tool makes showing off, organising and storing photos a cinch.
urDrive users can also visit urAppZone to snap up gaming apps amongst a host of other offerings. There are also bonuses for urDrive customers such as a free 2GB online back-up account to keep important files safe and easily accessible on the internet.

And the cons?
Well, if you only use a USB pen to transfer one document to another computer once in a blue moon, you might find urDrive’s features excessive, or you might find a whole new way to think of USB drives.
