Hi. I’m a memory card. I don’t normally get to talk to you because usually I don’t get heard. I’m not the most beautiful gadget. I’m not the most revered. But I’m certainly the most useful, and if you had a day without me you’d agree.

Normally I spend my time in an office, transferring files from one computer to another, giving important presentations, and backing up data. I love my job, and I’m always reliable. Anyone will tell you that.

And today, I think my owner must be rewarding me, we’re going on an outing to the seaside. I do look forward to going on holidays, as it’s when I feel at my most useful. I get to do such a variety of jobs, all at great speed and with great reliability. Oh, hang on one moment, I’m just being popped into the camera.

Brilliant! I’m out in the fresh air, doing what I do best. I am the master at capturing data at high speeds. Flash! There’s a memory captured. Flash! And another. And now I’m recording HD video, this day couldn’t get any better. I’m always astounded that I can take so many pictures and never get full up. I do enjoy a good day out: we memory cards are to be used, not to be lost at the bottom of a bag.

And now I’m back home, after a day of writing bits and bytes. I’m back with my laptop now, giving him all of the data. He seems quite jealous of my day out. Yeah, I was there, with the kids and the dog. Yep, I’m helping them remember that outing forever. Don’t worry yourself laptop. You’ll help keep the memories safe.

And now for my piece de resistance, my final task before I get ready for what tomorrow has to offer. I’m being put into the digital photo frame, allowed to display my glorious treasures from the day out to everyone. Everyone’s looking at the frame, but when it comes down to it, it’s all my doing. And that gives me a sense of satisfaction.

So next time you go to work or go on an outing, think about the cards like me working hard for you. We love our job, but need a little care and attention. Don’t lose us! We want to work for you.
