If you’ve been reading about SSD technology and the benefits of SSDNow, you’ve probably developed a desire to give your computer a new lease of life. The SSDNow V Series of drives do just that. Here’s some more info on the drives…
Key features
The SSDNow V Series are 2.5″ drives and come in variants designed either for PCs or laptops. There are 64GB and 128GB versions available – to work out what that is in terms of your music, photos and videos, check out our helpful piece on storage capacities.
The V Series comes with all the usual benefits of an SSD drive: speed, reliability, silence, cool operation and for notebooks better battery life. Here’s a quick rundown on the vitals, check out the Kingston Technology website for a full data sheet:
- Speed: Up to 100MB/sec read and 80MB/sec write1
- Capacity2: Available in 64GB and 128GB models
- Power consumption: 128GB – 2.5W (typ) while active, 0.45W (typ) during sleep
64GB – 2.0W (typ) while active, 0.45W (typ) during sleep. - Life expectancy: 1 million hours mean time before failure.
On top of these awesome features, Kingston Technology has put together bundles to help make it straightforward to perform an upgrade and get the most out of your system.
Stand-alone drives
If you’ve got a techie streak in you and all you’re looking for is a speedy SSD for a system upgrade with no cables or bundled software, the stand-alone drive is for you. The Kingston Technology SSDNow V Series SNV125-S2/64GB and SNV125-S2/128GB are drive-only products.
Desktop bundles
For everything you need to upgrade your desktop system, the SNV125-S2D/64GB and SNV125-S2D/128GB bundles come with mounting brackets, power and data cables, along with Acronis True Image data transfer software so that you can easily move your operating system away from that clunky old hard disk onto your brand new, spectacularly fast SSD.
Notebook bundles
Helping you make use of your old notebook drive even after you’ve swapped it for an SSDNow V Series drive, the SNV125-S2N/64GB and SNV125-S2N/128GB bundles come with an external USB drive enclosure. Acronis True Image is included to make sure that copying all your data across couldn’t be easier!
